Philadelphia is shutting down all psychic businesses after a 1971 law making it illegal to be a professional psychic was discovered. Licenses and Inspections are raiding business and revoking business licences.

According to the decades-old law "a person [who] pretends for gain or lucre to tell fortunes or predict future events by cards, tokens, the inspection of the head or hands of any person… [commits a 3rd degree misdemeanor]."

"Unfortunately I wasn’t able to predict this," said Monica, a psychic who was issued a business licence by the city 6 years ago, "I told them because I am clairvoyant, I do palm readings, card readings, I do readings for people."
